BBB - Local without the wires and space

Roger Meike posted a great tip on his Digital Diner blog to help clean up the clutter on your desktop. Roger shows you how to use VNC to easily access the BBB's desktop without adding a monitor, keyboard, mouse, and hub.

So far I've been doing most of my work over a SSH connection but it's nice to know how simply this can be done.

Beaglebone Black

The Beaglebone Black is an interesting embedded Linux controller that I recently picked up. It's a great little board that allows you to experiment with Linux for control purposes. One key feature is that you're not limited to a specific programming language or environment like some of the other controller boards out there today. Want to play with Python, C, or Javascript? Go ahead.

The BBB also offers a variety of I/O for connecting to the real world. Besides the basic digital and analog lines; the board includes USB, and HDMI output, and Ethernet.

I decided to purchase the Adafruit Beagle Bone Black Starter Pack to so I'd have the basics to get up and running without digging through my stash or purchasing bits and pieces here and there. The pack seems to be very popular and goes out of stock quite often. Adafruit offers a nice service that lets you know when an out of stock item is available again. But, be quick when you get the email, the Beaglebone Black is becoming quite popular!

I've already started playing around with the board so I'll be posting more as I get my head around what this little beast can do.
